“And that was your soul
The only thing you’ve got
And your soul, well, it represented the mind
The mind at present without light
And there was nothing to reflect, no mirrors, no shape
Nothing to fix this particular dream
And you’ve got no anchors
You don’t know where you are
You don’t know whether you are really existing
Or whether you’ve blown everything
And you’ve got to become a star
Nothing matters but the end of matter
Nothing matters but the end of matter
Nothing matters but the end of matter
Nothing matters but the end of matter”
Excerpt from song ‘Nothing Matters but the End Of Matter’ by Еще Psychic TV
The exhibition End of Matter ventures into the vastness of cyber-verses, exploring the concepts of simulation and life. It sparks questions about different realities and the significance and existence of material and immaterial knowledge. The creations of Flora Miranda examine how the role of a fashion designer today morphs between the online- and physical world. Is the traditional knowledge of craft still relevant and what would happen if fashion designers only worked digitally? Will fashion speed up even further with automated design bots? In Flora Miranda’s work, the hybrid knowledge of both worlds has been relevant since the beginning.
‘My work addresses the numerical self, questions the systems of the virtual world, and portrays the identity of the digital generation. As an artist, I have visions of the digital world and use them to develop new work processes, materials and forms. Data has been the focus of my work for 8 years. The book “Einstein’s Veil” by Anton Zeilinger (Austrian quantum physicist) changed my view of the world in 2013. I began to see our reality built purely from data. Whatever data is supposed to be.’
